Job description:

General Manager will be responsible for streamlining production procedures, upholding safety requirements, encouraging innovation, and General Manger ensuring overall business performance while directly reporting to the Executive Manager.

Function:

Strategic Leadership: General Manager Create and put into action the Manufacturing Timber Products division’s long-term vision, mission, and strategic goals.
Create company plans and set performance benchmarks to meet your operational and financial objectives.

General Manager Keep an eye on market developments, rival activity, and legislative changes to adjust strategy as necessary.
Manage all facets of the manufacturing timber activities, including sales of manufactured goods, under operational management.
Improve production procedures and raise productivity without sacrificing quality.
To improve cooperation and synergy, lead and manage cross-functional teams to enhance collaboration and synergy.

Security and adherence
Establish and uphold an organization-wide strong safety culture that prioritises best practises and adherence to safety laws.
Ensure that the production operations are in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and licences.

Financial Administration
Create and maintain budgets for the activities involved in manufacturing wood goods to ensure cost management and resource efficiency.
To make data-driven decisions and increase profitability, analyse financial reports and performance metrics.
Sales
Fostering good relationships with customers and suppliers will ensure exceptional customer service.
By coordinating the production of timber products with these markets, develop sales strategies and maximise profitability.

Management of talent
Top personnel should be attracted, mentored, and kept by the mining and manufacturing teams.
To improve employee skills and capacities, offer coaching and chances for professional development.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Encourage a culture of innovation by supporting fresh concepts and technological advancements that boost sustainability and productivity.
To increase operational efficiency, identify and execute process changes.

Qualification:

Wood technology or forestry, or a related field, bachelor’s degree or diploma.

Experience:

forestry, manufacturing, and sales experience that has been proven (for at least 10 years), with a history of effective leadership and business expansion.
An excellent awareness of the entire forestry supply chain, from genetics to final market, and a strong sales background.
Preferable is knowledge of the technology, manufacturing methods, and best practises used in the forest sector.

Solid knowledge of South African forestry and manufacturing-related health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Excellent financial acumen, including the capacity to manage budgets, examine financial information, and draw responsible conclusions.
Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities to interact successfully with a variety of stakeholders.
