Job description:

The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) operates the educational brand Varsity College. The IIE is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to offer higher education certificates recognised by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and has a reputation for being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa.

Function:

Responds to, assesses, and prioritises logged requests for help from users with catalogue of services requests.
uses the incident and problem management database offered by the service desk to record and track calls.
Identifies problems (from the services catalogue), isolates them, resolves them, and follows up on common user occurrences. Undefined jobs (those not listed in the services catalogue) are referred to the campus Senior Support for resolution and further clarification.

Support staff, students, and lecturers with IT.

Other Support Function:

installs desktop and laptop computers with the necessary authorised software for campus usage, and completes the necessary paperwork.
Installs hardware and accessories such disc drives, keyboards, printers, and monitors
helps set up and support venues on campus or for usage in training

tests ICT testing equipment on campus venues on a regular and periodic basis to guarantee functionality, including but not limited to: – PCs – Audio visual equipment – Access point
– Telephones
Office automation equipment is inspected, and any flaws are fixed.

Additional Function:

communicates with service providers about IT equipment and its upkeep
administers the ICT asset registry and equipment tracker, completes the relevant financial paperwork, such as disposals, and
oversees and maintains software in accordance with the predetermined software list.

maintains the server room, storeroom, and office for information technology by keeping them clean, orderly, and risk-free.
teaches and orients employees on how to use hardware and software
complies with the regulations set out by The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)

Qualification:

A Higher Certificate or Occupational Certificate at Level 5 (NQF Level 5) in A+/N+ is the minimum requirement.
It is advantageous to have an advanced certificate, diploma, or occupational certificate level 6 (NQF Level 6) in CCNA1, MCSE, or MCTIP.

Experience:

3 years or more of experience in ICT.
